How it Works

Washakie #1 Online is a fully accredited online virtual school for students in grades K-12.  Washakie #1 Online is well established and has been serving local familes with a variety of needs since 2008.  Washakie #1 Online offers a rigorous curriculum that is fully aligned to and inclusive of Wyoming Content and Performance Standards.  All courses have been approved by the Wyoming Department of Education.

Washakie #1 Online uses local course instructors who are fully certified in their content areas.  Student support is available onsite at all schools through Title I Reading (K-8), after school tutoring (K-12), and at Worland High School via our Alternative Education Program which is fully staffed with a bilingual director.  Students particiapte in beginning of the year screening and end of year assessments such as WY-TOPP.

Families who are interested in Washakie No. 1 Online please fill out the online application here.  Families must assure the district that an at home Learning Coach will be available full time to create a school “structure,” and to oversee and monitor student progress.

At the high school level, Washakie #1 Online offers students the opportunity to take online course for the following reasons:

  • To take higher-level classes which are not offered at Worland High School.
  • Advanced Placement and/or Dual Enrollment: for classes not offered at Worland High School.
  • Scheduling Conflict: when a student is unable to take desired classes due to conflict of schedule.
  • Credit Recovery: in order to make up the required classes needed for graduation.

The district provides all technology, curriculum and supplies for each course/grade level.

For the 2020-21 school year, Washakie No. 1 Online is accepting local students only.  However, as with the district’s Brick and Mortar policy, out of district students may request to participate in Washakie #1 Online courses. This requires the approval of the district Superintendent.
